Buffalo Sabres Beard-a-Thon

Tim's Beard

If you have any meetings scheduled with us in the near future, brace yourself. No we haven't gone homeless or stopped showering.

Today marks the start of the 2010 NHL Playoffs. For players, growing a beard during the post-season has become so common it is almost required of them. For fans, this has become a public display of their support for their team 24/7, even women throw on fake beards sometimes!

This year the Buffalo Sabres have taken it a step farther, incorporating fund raising into the formula with the 2010 Beard-a-Thon!

Many of you may have noticed Mike has a beard all the time, Tim is not so fortunate, but he has created a Beard-a-Thon profile page and if anyone is willing to donate to the profile feel free. Above is a little preview of Tim's attempts to grow into his man mane.

Firefox - Web Dev - Fight!

Firefox - Web Dev

So FireFox 3.6 didn't realize there was such a widely used "Display Element Information" (Shift+Command+F) shortcut for Web Developer Toolbar that used the same key combination as their new "View Fullscreen" (Shift+Command+F) shortcut key.

After a few google searches this link was found with, from what we could tell, was the clearest and simplest fix for the problem.

Google To Phase Out Internet Explorer 6 Support

IE6

View the Google Blog Article

With the recent release of Windows 7 (and Microsoft started flirting with abandoning Internet Explorer 6) web designers saw the first glimpse of hope that, we as service providers, will not have to bend over backwards to make well crafted websites and applications work in a browser that was sub-par to say the least.

Enter another big dog in the fight against IE6, Google! The world's largest web company and developer of many of the most advanced online application is publicly declaring that enough is enough. Google will stop catering to IE6's bugs and shortcomings from now on, regardless of what IT Professionals at corporations want.

With a wide variety of open source browsers available to the public for free, corporations still hesitate to buy into the fact that Microsoft is not the only (or best) option. Digg and other large social networking and blog sites are also considering this as well.

IE6 users here are some other Browsers to consider:

Thunderbird 3 POP3 Setup Issues and Fix

January 18th, 2010 2:16pm
Thunderbird

For all you POP3 email users, you may be incredibly frustrated with the recent release of Mozilla's new version of the popular email client Thunderbird 3.

In the new mailbox setup, users are asked to simply enter their Name, Email, and Password. Then Thunderbird will automatically discover and add the server settings for you. Sounds great right? Well Thunderbird is forcing users to setup IMAP email addresses. Many users familiarity with IMAP is limited and/or avoided.

The best solution, for now, is simply to uninstall Thunderbird (those of you that upgraded, back up your mailboxes first) and install the last Thunderbird 2.0.23 release found here Download Thunderbird 2.0.23

I would hope that the great teams at Mozilla can iron this issue out quickly as most, if not all, of their products released are the top of their class.
